BEST ITEMS FOR PREGNANCY
These are some of my favorite things to make life easier during that beautiful (and sometimes uncomfortable) time when you’re carrying your precious baby. These are items I’ve personally used and loved, and I’m glad to recommend to pregnant mamas who are wondering what they need for their pregnancy.
THAT ACTUALLY TASTE GOOD
Through almost a dozen pregnancies I’ve tried about as many different prenatal vitamins. I love these because they include DHA and they are like eating candy. These make taking pre-natal vitamins a pleasure instead of a chore!
NOT SO TASTY, BUT THEY WORK
To be fair, nothing tastes good when I’m newly pregnant. But while these weren’t the best flavored things to suck on, I did eat them like candy. Because they HELPED.
When I couldn’t take the ginger flavor, I also found relief from sucking on Jolly Ranchers- so I can recommend those as well.
FOR THE HOSPITAL
I finally decided to take my own gown with my last baby, and not going to lie- it was amazing. I didn’t actually labor in this gown- but I did change into it as soon as possible afterward. I loved having pictures without the ugly hospital gowns, and this was super comfortable and easy to nurse in.
5: GREAT LOTION
FOR ITCHY, STRETCHING SKIN
This isn’t specifically for pregnancy, but I’ve used it every single one because it’s so soothing. I’ve tried other belly cremes for pregnancy but this one has been my favorite. The scent is nice and light, and it’s thick and creamy and feels SO NICE. I spread it on my belly every night toward the end of my pregnancies to help calm that itchy, stretching skin.
FOR A GROWING BUMP
I bought this dress and then went back and bought two more in different colors. This dress is cute and modest, and feels like you’re just wearing a t-shirt (while looking like you dressed up). I wore this to church, events, and just around the house because it was SO comfortable.
3: FETAL DOPPLER
FOR PEACE OF MIND
While there are concerns about the safety of using a doppler regularly, I have to say this brought me peace of mind through my pregnancies. I had some high risk, scary pregnancies, and having a doppler saved me from a lot of stress. These don’t pick up the heartbeat until around 14 weeks and are a little tricky, but I was SO grateful for mine. Not a necessity for sure, but in stressful pregnancies this was my best purchase.
FOR HEARTBURN RELIEF
In some pregnancies I was fine, and in others I swear I got heartburn just by drinking water. Tums became a staple and made a huge difference. And they are a great source of calcium, which is an added bonus!
AND MY VERY FAVORITE MATERNITY ITEM…
1: BODY PILLOW
BEST ITEM FOR PREGNANCY!
If you’re going to purchase ONE pregnancy item, make it a great body pillow. This will give you extra hours of sleep every night, and will SAVE your back and hips.
I started out with a single body pillow and then transitioned to a U-shaped pillow, and I definitely preferred the U-shape. This made it so easy to roll over to my other side and still have a body pillow. No more having to reposition the pillow in the middle of the night. Serious game-changer!
These are my absolute favorite pregnancy items! I hope you enjoyed reading through this list. I’d love to hear what pregnancy items YOU can’t live without! Send me a message if there’s something great that I’ve missed!
