If you’re visiting this page, it means you’re probably getting ready to welcome a sweet new baby into your family. So first, I want to offer my congratulations! What a wonderful time for you and your family. While you clearly already value the idea of portraits of that new little one, I’d love to share with you

a few reasons why I love posed newborn portraits!

There’s just something so adorable about the newborn look- and it changes so quickly! I love photographing babies in these first few weeks- not only because they are sleepiest and easiest to pose, but because they have this beautiful new look about them. Their skin is usually nice -and while slightly flaky, clear of the soon-to-arrive baby acne. And they’re just so precious and tiny!

While school pictures and yearly family portraits may grace the walls of your home for a few years, I love that newborn portraits tend to be displayed for much longer. In our home (and so many others I’ve visited) we have a special place for the newborn portraits of each of our children.

You’ll want to remember how much you LOVE that little monster… and that you’ll make it through these trying years to discover that little angel underneath again (I’m only kidding… Mostly).

In photo albums, in sports team, graduation and wedding slideshows… Not only will you cherish these photos, but so will your child.

What Happens in Posed Newborn Portrait Sessions?

I’ll send you a booking proposal and you’ll check over my calendar and choose a date and time for your session. You’ll sign your contract and pay a retainer, and then you’ll be scheduled!

You’ll get an email welcoming you to your own client portal- where you can keep track of EVERYTHING related to your newborn portrait session.

You’ll get another email in a few days with a questionnaire where you can share your newborn photography ideas for your session.

The week of your session, you’ll get an email reminder as well as an informational email about how to prepare yourself and baby for your session to go smoothly.

We’ll feel it out and see what baby prefers, but in general we’ll begin with newborn family photos. We’ll choose a wrap for baby that matches your outfits, and we’ll take about 20-30 minutes photographing your family with your newborn.

Once family photos are finished, we’ll take a break while I set up the studio for baby’s portraits. I’ll have you choose a selection of items from my props for newborn photography, and we’ll also take a moment to talk about the product samples I have in my studio (since every session includes a print credit).

I’ll take baby’s photos while you relax on my couch- binge watching some netflix, reading a book, or taking a nap. Or you’re welcome to hang out with me in the studio and visit!

My turn-around is about two weeks on average. Your first look at your newborn photos will be through your sneak peek. I’ll post it in the blog section of this website, and I’ll send you a text message with the link.

A few days later, you’ll receive the link (through your email) to your full portrait gallery. You’ll be able to view and download all of your portraits there, using the client portal created for you when you booked your session. You’ll also receive an email with your portrait credit, which you can apply toward any product through your gallery.

You’ll download your photos, place your order, and soon will receive some beautiful prints of your baby to display in your home and share with friends and family!
